SIMPLICITY

Gabriel Fagan Architects was founded in 1964 and located at 156 Bree street in Cape Town, South Africa.

Gabriel (1925 - 1920) and Gwen soon became a formidable team, their work spanning from designing contemporary buildings and landscapes in sensitive contexts to a vast list of restorations on historic buildings such as the Castle, Boschendal, Government House, Dal Josaphat, around 200 farmhouses and the whole of Church Street in Tulbach.

While Gwen specializes in landscape architecture and historical research, Gabriel's work has won international acclaim for its honesty and simplicity while being innovative, unique and appropriate for every context.

The Fagan's self built family HOME called "DIE ES"
is a good example where his principles come to the fore, since designing one's own home is an opportunity for experimenting and un-compromised freedom of expression:

Simple dignity and fitness is what I have learnt from our vernacular architecture
and what has subconsciously been an inspiration in my own work.
